Intestinal Proteases:
Opportunity for Drug Discovery
The inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are chronic relapsing and remitting inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
Despite current treatment's efficacy, many patients require surgery for refractory disease or complications.
We aim to delineate the role of intestinal proteases (host-derived and bacterial) and their inhibitors in the pathophysiology of IBD.
